AUTOMATION PROCESS MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Automation Process Manager to lead our union labor force, ensuring the efficient, safe, and timely execution of daily tasks in compliance with ILWU contractual terms. This role is crucial for operations on the quay, yard, and at Inner Facility Transfers (IFT), focusing on achieving targeted productivity and facilitating highly effective turnovers through effective coordination of various activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Lead and manage staff, labor, and vendors to meet established safety, financial, and production goals.
  • Manage stakeholder development and performance, including training and ensuring uniform application of ILWU CBA in coordination with Labor Relations when necessary.
  • Mediate operational issues with union representatives and business agents in a professional manner.
  • Optimize work processes and manpower utilization for total terminal success.
  • Foster strong relationships with customers, vendors, and the ILWU workforce.
  • Structure routine tasks and goals, set priorities, and efficiently execute daily tasks considering operational cost, safety, and efficiency.
  • Responsible for the training, development, and performance management of staff.
  • Maintain staff discipline, ensure adherence to P400 policies and procedures for safe working practices, and manage gates activities effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum four (4) year degree from an accredited college or equivalent Terminal Operations experience of five (5) or more years.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve operational plans with short-term impact.
  • Proven agility to adapt to important changes rapidly.
  • Strong collaboration skills for working across boundaries.
  • Broad knowledge in job area or expertise in a specific discipline.
  • Demonstrated accountability, agility, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in mediation and negotiation with union representatives.
  • Proficient in promoting and maintaining a safe working environment in compliance with policies and procedures.
