Master Data Management Operations Analyst

A growing organization is expanding its master data management capabilities and is seeking a Master Data Management Operations Analyst to support the buildout and integration of core data domains. This role applies analytical thinking and process discipline to business-facing data management activities. The position focuses on hands-on stewardship of mastered data within a master data management platform and close collaboration with business data owners to define, govern, and improve master records.

The Master Data Management Operations Analyst works at the intersection of data architecture, business processes, and data quality, contributing to a modern data operating model and supporting enterprise-wide data initiatives.


Responsibilities

  • Manage and curate master data across multiple domains using a master data management platform.
  • Partner with business data owners and data stewards to understand how data is used and to define business rules and quality controls.
  • Create source-to-target data mappings and analyze discrepancies across source systems.
  • Define and implement matching and merging logic, survivorship rules, and stewardship workflows within the master data management tool.
  • Lead analysis to identify data quality issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Produce clear requirement documentation, including business requirements, use cases, user stories, non-functional requirements, and supporting business cases.
  • Contribute to the design and evolution of a scalable master data management architecture aligned with organizational data strategy.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by proposing process and data quality enhancements.
  • Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and independently manage multiple concurrent workstreams.

Required experience and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in master data management or related data disciplines.
  • Experience with master data management, reference data management, data quality, data integration, data analytics, or data governance.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture concepts, data models, and source-to-target mappings.
  • Knowledge of common master data domains such as customer, product, organization, and location.
  • Hands-on experience with master data lifecycle processes, including create, review, update, and delete workflows.
  • Experience defining and documenting business rules, data lineage, and data requirements.
  • Ability to work directly with business users to elicit requirements, ask probing questions, and translate needs into actionable specifications.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and analyzing data.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Preferred experience

  • Experience with hierarchy management, data cleansing, and match and merge processes.
  • Familiarity with metadata management frameworks and stewardship operating models.
  • Experience documenting standard operating procedures and service agreements.
  • Exposure to agile delivery environments.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management platforms such as Salesforce.
