The network migration technician works directly with customer offices, internal technical teams, and project stakeholders to plan migrations, review existing network environments, and support offices before, during, and after their transition to a new firewall solution.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate directly with customer offices to plan and schedule firewall and network migrations.
  • Collect, review, and document current network and device configurations to support migration planning.
  • Provide practical networking guidance to offices during setup and transition to new firewall solutions.
  • Maintain regular follow-up with offices to keep migrations on schedule and address open issues.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts related to network connectivity, firewall configuration, and migration-related issues.
  • Ensure retired network and firewall devices are handled and disposed of according to established procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal technical and operational teams to share migration status and technical findings.
  • Track progress, document outcomes, and report results within project tracking and reporting systems.
  • Assist with general technology requests from customer offices and route issues to the appropriate support teams when needed.
  • Provide post-migration support to help stabilize new network environments.

Required experience and skills

  • Five or more years of hands-on experience supporting network environments and firewall platforms across multiple vendors.
  • Strong understanding of core networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot production network issues and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Experience coordinating technical work across multiple stakeholders and tracking tasks or project milestones.
