Senior SDET / Python Automation Engineer

Job Description

A leading organization is seeking a Senior SDET and Python Automation Engineer to support quality engineering initiatives for large-scale, data-driven platforms. This position focuses on backend and API testing, automation framework development, data validation, and quality assurance for complex business and analytics systems.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong Python and SQL expertise who can independently design testing solutions, improve automation coverage, and ensure the reliability of backend services and data processing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks using Python.
• Create automated testing solutions focused on APIs, backend services, and data-intensive applications.
• Develop testing strategies for complex systems involving large datasets, business rules, and data processing workflows.
• Validate backend functionality, service integrations, and application logic through automated testing practices.
• Build scalable test coverage that supports application quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
• Analyze test results, identify quality risks, and proactively address gaps in coverage.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and data teams to support quality objectives throughout the development lifecycle.
• Support automated test execution within continuous integration and deployment workflows.
• Troubleshoot defects, investigate root causes, and contribute to quality improvements across the platform.
• Drive testing initiatives independently while managing priorities and delivering solutions with minimal oversight.

Required Experience and Skills

• 3–5 years of professional experience in software development, software test engineering, or automation engineering roles.
• Strong Python programming and software development skills.
• Experience testing APIs, backend services, and distributed applications.
• Advanced SQL skills with experience validating and analyzing large datasets.
• Experience designing, developing, or significantly enhancing automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, automation best practices, and quality engineering principles.
• Experience supporting data-intensive systems and complex business logic workflows.
• Ability to independently interpret requirements and deliver end-to-end automation solutions.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Experience and Skills

• Experience with Playwright, particularly for API-focused testing.
• Exposure to data platforms, analytics environments, or large-scale data pipelines.
• Familiarity with forecasting systems, financial platforms, or complex business rule validation.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working within cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
