Job Description
A leading organization is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to support the design, development, and enhancement of cloud-based applications and services. This engineer will work closely with technical teams to build scalable backend solutions, develop robust data integrations, and contribute to modern software development initiatives that incorporate artificial intelligence technologies.
The ideal candidate brings strong Python development experience, advanced SQL skills, cloud platform expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, technical leaders, and business stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend applications, services, and APIs using Python.
- Design and optimize SQL queries, database interactions, and data processing workflows.
- Build scalable and reliable cloud-based solutions using modern engineering practices.
- Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Collaborate with software engineers, product partners, and technical stakeholders to deliver business-focused solutions.
- Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Support ongoing application enhancements, performance improvements, and system maintenance activities.
- Apply software engineering best practices including testing, code reviews, documentation, and version control.
- Work with AI-enabled development tools and emerging technologies to improve productivity and software quality.
- Contribute to the development of secure, high-performing, and maintainable applications.
Required Experience and Skills
- 3+ years of experience in backend software engineering or application development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python development.
- Advanced SQL skills with experience working with relational databases and large datasets.
- Experience building and supporting APIs, integrations, and backend services.
- Experience working with cloud platforms, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of software design principles, application architecture, and modern development practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience collaborating within cross-functional engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Interest in or experience with artificial intelligence technologies and AI-assisted development practices.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Experience supporting cloud migration or multi-cloud initiatives.
- Knowledge of cloud-native application development patterns.
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices architectures.
- Exposure to Generative AI, machine learning applications, or AI-enabled software solutions.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and source control practices.
- Healthcare, payer, or pharmacy benefit management experience is beneficial.
